What Music Would Look Like If It Were a Physical Object?

Photographs by Martin Klimas

Photographs by Martin Klimas

Artist Martin Klimas came up with a clever idea: he put splatters of plaint on a scrim over a speaker and played music. As the volume was turned up, the paint popped up in the air and he captured the moments in a photograph. It’s a synchronized cacophony of art and music. It also looks fantastic. Source: gizmodo

Some numbers:

AVERAGE AMOUNT OF PAINT USED PER SHOT: 6 OUNCES
TOTAL AMOUNT OF PAINT USED ON THE PROJECT: 18.5 GALLONS
FINAL NUMBER OF IMAGES PRINTED: 212
SHUTTER SPEED: 1/7,000TH OF A SECOND
NUMBER OF BLOWN SPEAKERS: 2

A little gossip: Canon even made a commercial about it!

Do you remember those old photographs of African-Native Americans or American Indians ? Keliy Anderson-Staley has further developed this type of photography, the tintype, creating astonishing portraits of Americans. As European, I also recognize myself and my culture in those beautiful expressions and diversity. You can have a look to a more complete gallery plus an essay on flackphoto.com.

Göran Strand

Göran Strand of Östersund, Sweden, took a panoramic photo of Tuesday night's sights and wrapped it into a 360-degree composition titled "Planet Aurora."

The skies are settling down after this week’s big solar storm, leaving behind a gallery of green-glowing pictures as a lasting legacy. Alan Boyle, photoblog.msnbc.msn.com
